Ambassador Beyer speaks to college students in St. Gallen

Ambassador Donald S. Beyer, Jr. and DCM Susan Elbow made an official visit to the the Canton of St. Gallen on June 10, 2011. They received a warm welcome by the representatives of the cantonal government, including Karin Keller-Suter, Head of the Department of Security and Justice, Heidi Hanselmann, Head of the Health Department, and Canisius Braun, Secretary General of the Canton and Head of the Cantonal Chancellery.

 

After visiting the Abbey Library of St. Gallen, where they were treated to a Medieval-style rendering of a religious song, the Ambassador and DCM visited the cantonal parliament's council chamber where the Ambassador delivered remarks to over 150 students and their teachers followed by a Q&A session. A tour of the textile museum, which revealed the Canton's strong ties to the lace industry and its involvement in the fashion world concluded the visit.
