Ambassador Donald S. Beyer, Jr. travells to Luzern for “Jeder Rappen Zählt” (Dec 13, 2011)
The U.S. Embassy in Bern, together with Chevrolet, arranged for an auction to support the Swiss fundraising project “Jeder Rappen Zählt.” On Tuesday, December 13, Ambassador Donald S. Beyer, Jr. travelled to Luzern, where “Jeder Rappen Zählt” is based this year, to present the project. Ambassador Beyer noted that Chevrolet was an ideal partner for the U.S. Embassy, as the company has both Swiss and U.S. ties and history. In the interview, the Ambassador stated that, in both Switzerland and the U.S., there is a strong volunteer tradition. The interview was broadcast live on Swiss National Radio and TV.
In 2011, “Jeder Rappen Zählt” is raising money for mothers in need all over the world. The auction, under the patronage of the embassy, is for 100 hundred days of driving a Chevrolet car of the winner’s choice plus a long weekend with the newest Chevrolet car, the Volt.
