On Thursday, December 8, 2011, Ambassador Donald S. Beyer, DCM Susan Elbow and PAO Alex Daniels met with Urs Nagel, Head of Jet Operations and Chief Pilot Jet for Rega.ch, Switzerland’s emergency medical air service. Mr. Nagel explained the history and significance of Rega and also gave details of Rega’s global reach. After the presentation, Mr. Nagel took the group on a tour of the facility, including a personalized tour of one of Rega’s jets, several helicopters, and the Rega command center.
Rega comes to the aid of people in distress, providing swift, professional medical assistance by air. It employs state-of-the-art operating resources, such as helicopters and air-ambulances. Rega’s workforce comprises qualified, experienced staff. Rega is a privately run, non-profit foundation, which operates independently.
