Immediate Relative Category

Who can file – only a U.S. citizen, who is resident in Switzerland or Liechtenstein can file a petition. The petition must be filed in person. The Embassy only accept petitions for immediate relative family member (spouse, children under 21, parents) from U.S. Citizens who has maintained continuous residency in our consular district for at least six months (A, B, C, Ci or L permit holder) and the beneficiary is physically present in the consular district.

Following documents are needed for filing a petition for alien relative:

Form I-130

Form G-325A (one each)

Marriage Certificate (civil document not family book)

Court Divorce decree (if applicable)

Death Certificate (if applicable)

One photograph each

Valid U.S. passport or U.S. birth certificate and Swiss residency permit

Fee of $355 – cash (Swiss francs or US dollars) or credit card

All documents must be in original and one photocopy attached. Documents not in English needs an accurate translation.

ABSENT ALL THE REQUIRED ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS, THE PETITION CANNOT BE APPROVED!

 

Important Additional Information

U.S. Citizens residing in the U.S. should file their petition with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in the U.S. See website www.uscis.gov.
