Ambassador and Mrs. Beyer were invited to visit Glarus to observe the Landesgemeinde. The Landesgemeinde is an annual gathering of the eligible voters of Canton Glarus. It is responsible for passing laws and making other decisions concerning the governance of the canton. The Landesgemeinde gathering traditionally is held on the first Sunday in May on the Zaun Square in Glarus.
