Consular Agency Geneva

Town Hall Meeting, May 15, 2008

American Citizens Abroad Geneva, for the second year in a row, will be sponsoring an Town Hall meeting with guest speakers from the American Embassy in Bern and the U.S. Consular Agency in Geneva. Included among the guest speakers will be the Deputy Chief of Mission, the Consul General, a vice consul, a Social Security claims representative and the Geneva Consular Agent. Topics include local services for Americans, Social Security benefits, voting and visa issues. There will be an opportunity to ask questions of any of the speakers; light refreshments will be served.

The date is Thursday, May 15 from 6:00 to 9.00 p.m. on the Webster University Campus on 15 route de Collex, 1293 Bellevue. For more detailed information about this event visit http://www.aca.ch/joomla/index.php or call 022/340-0233.

Unfortunately, only Swiss francs will be accepted as payment at the consular agencies in Geneva and Zurich at this time. The Embassy in Berne is able to accept U.S. dollars and major credit cards.

Unfortunately, credit cards can not be accepted as a form of payment at the consular agencies at this time. (They are accepted in Bern.)

Requests for immigrant and non-immigrant visas should be directed to the Embassy in Bern. No visa services are offered at the consular agencies.

All clients applying for passport renewals are asked to bring a one franc self addressed stamped envelope (size C5).

Please note that visa pages cannot be added in Geneva. This is done only in Bern either in person or by mail. However, you can go to the Geneva Consular Agency to fill out the form and the Agency will send the form and your passport to Bern on your behalf. Please expect 5-7 business days for the documents to be processed. The service is offered free of charge.

 

 

Consular Agency Zurich

 


Reduced Services Available at the U.S. Consular Agency in Zurich in May/June 2008


 

Due to the temporary absence of the consular agent, the U.S. Consular Agency in Zurich is open for reduced services only, i.e. no notarial and passport services will be available on the following dates:

May 27 - 30
June 6, 12 and 13

 

If you need services that require personal appearance on those dates, please come to the Embassy in Bern, with the exception of June 6.  The American Citizen Services section is open Monday – Friday from 09:00 – 11:30 a.m., except on Swiss and American holidays.  Appointments are not required, except on Wednesdays.
