Ambassador Beyer Meets Alpinist Jürg Meyer in Bern

Bern, October 29, 2009: Ambassador Beyer had lunch at the Residence with the well known Alpinist Jürg Meyer. Mr. Meyer studied geology at the University of Basel and holds a doctorate in mineralogy and petrology. He is active in the Swiss Alpine Club where he leads projects and workshops and acts as liaison with environmental organizations and NGOs. He is a brevetted mountain guide and instructor. He is a keen nature photographer, a piano player and a baritone.

Ambassador Beyer took this opportunity to talk to Mr. Meyer about his plans to hike in the Alps and discussed the most interesting and scenic trails. Ambassador Beyer and Mr. Meyer plan to hike together in the spring.
